Necessarily, because service users as a class are much more heterogeneous than professionals or policymakers, no claim to typicality must be made for the service consumer contributors; some spoke as individuals, some spoke in a role outlined wholly or partly as a service person position which might be construed as consultant. In the unique project for the seminars, service users had been identified as stakeholders on an equal footing with practitioners and policymakers. A number of audio system and many of the different individuals attended for more than one seminar, lending a level of continuity and integrity to the discussions by which service customers and professionals had been engaged.
