How Laser Hair Removal Works
Laser hair removal works by using a powerful light beam to directly target the roots of your hair. This light seeks out the colour in your hair to destroy the follicle—the part that grows hair— off the blood supply and effectively stopping hair growth.
The Alexandrite is great at stopping hair from coming back while not harming the skin around it. During the process, you might feel a small snapping sensation like a rubber band hit, which is the laser zapping the root of your hair.
In each session, about 10% of your hair in the active growth phase will be permanently removed. The rest will weaken and shed over the following two weeks, making you smooth and hair-free between sessions. Any hair that does grow back will be thinner and lighter, which also means fewer ingrown hairs.

Laser Hair Removal - FAQs
A: At LaserLife clinic we always start your journey with a free consultation, which allows us to medically assess you for laser, we also a patch test carried out 24 hours before any procedure commencing.
We have 3 wavelengths depending on your skin type: Alexandrite, ND Yag and Mixed Motality. We use a medical grade Duetto EVO the safest and most effective lasers which allow us to treat all skin types
A: At the Laserlife laser hair removal clinic in London, we use two different makes and models depending on your skin and hair type. These are Alexandrite (755nm) and ND YAG (1064nm).
In your consultation, a hair assessment will be carried out to determine which laser will be the best for your treatment to achieve the desired results safely and effectively.
A: To book laser hiar removal treatments in our London clinic you need to be over 18. Anyone under the age of 18 needs to be accompanied by a legal guardian.
A: If you’re pregnant, we can’t treat you for laser hair removal because your baby’s safety is our key concern and we can’t guarantee that treatment won’t affect them.
A: We advise you not to have laser hair removal whilst . However, when your first period returns after finishing we’ll be happy to see you back.
Laser Hair Removal - The Process
At your free laser hair removal consultation at our London Clinic, your professionals practitioner will ask you about the results you want to achieve and go through a medical form.
They’ll assess your skin type for suitability, for either Alexandrite wavelength or the ND-YAG M wavelength laser hair removal. Both methods provide long-lasting results for hair removal.
Alexandrite is the Gold standard treatment for laser hair removal which goes to more depth and intensity to destroy the hair follicle, which means it’s more suitable for a light skin type.
ND-YAG wavelength is often the more suitable laser hair removal treatment for darker skin. Darker skins have a higher level of melanin, the pigment that gives the skin its Colour, so it absorbs the light at a faster rate than light colored skin.
Your practitioner will explain any risks and conduct a patch test on the treatment area. You’ll then need to wait 24 hours before starting your treatment, so we can make sure that you have not had an adverse reaction in the area we’ve tested.
If your patch test is satisfactory, you can book your next appointment, at which your practitioner will recommend a personalized treatment plan and, if you feel ready to go ahead, start the course of laser hair removal.
Remember – you can discuss every aspect of your laser hair removal treatment with no obligation to go ahead. Our practitioners are extremely knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions you have.
On the day of your treatment, you’ll be able to go through any last-minute questions with your laser hair removal practitioner. They will ensure the treatment area is free, clean and shaven.
You will feel the ice cold air from the Cryo Machine as we glide the laser machine across the skin. You’ll feel a slight tingling – some patients have described it as a hot pinprick or stinging sensation – but it shouldn’t really be painful.
After they’ve finished your laser hair removal treatment, your practitioner will apply a cooling gel and then an SPF sunscreen to sooth and protect the treated area. Each treatment can take between 15 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of hair being treated.
The underarm may take 15 minutes or less, legs 30 – 45 minutes, and the back 45 minutes to two hours . Our friendly, expert team will do everything they can to keep you comfortable throughout your course of treatments and ensure you’re free of problem hair and feeling great as soon as .
Recovery times vary after a ;laser hair session, but you should be able to leave the clinic as soon as your treatment has been completed and go about your normal day-to-day activities.
We just recommend that you avoid doing any or using products that could irritate the skin in the area where you’ve been treated. You should also try to stay out of the sun apply SPF skin protection regularly.
We believe that the highest quality aftercare is just as important as the treatment itself, so we’re here to support you.
We recommend you shave for days after the treatment has commended to help pull out any hairs that my be stuck in the skin.

Effective results are usually achieved over a of six to eight treatments. These will be spaced about four to six weeks apart and you’ll notice a reducation in hair growth after each treatment.
Once your treatment programme is complete, you’ll be able to enjoy smooth skin for many months. We recommend a top-up treatment once a year to ensure the area stays hair-free.
